Madelinetosh Collection 2 - Mountaineer pattern release!-

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all having an excellent 2022 so far! This is my first update of the year. As you might already saw my Instagram, today, Jan 21, 2022, is the launch day of the Madelinetosh Collection 2!! And I am a part of this collection!

In this new collection, the Madelinetosh team launched six colors as below.

-Glazed Pecan

-Saffron

-Pink Clay

-Paper

-Phantasm

-Pebble

My design for the collection is a shawl called" Mountaineer." The mountain motif is my all-time favorite, and it was entertaining to knit! I used Madelinetosh Merino Light(TML) and Impression held together to knit this shawl. The colors used are Glazed Pecan, Saffron, Pink Clay, and Paper!

The fabric feels so soft and light, even with the super long length!

Although I previously mentioned that I used TML and Impression held together, the pattern includes info to knit using only TML. This version is a little bit smaller, and it is perfect for those who want a smaller shawl.

At the moment, it is only available in English, but depending on the reaction from you guys, I might translate it into Japanese. In case you are interested, please let me know!

Let me talk a bit about the design itself. When Sunne, the Madelinetosh Yarn Whisperer, asked me to join the collection and showed me the vision board, this design immediately came into my mind. Rocks, sand, red clay, and fallen leaves. All those earthy elements made me think about the mountains. Mountains are not green and fresh, but with changing color leaves or in the twilight. Can you tell what I mean? I hope you do!

As always, this pattern consists of garter stitches -my fave!- with a line of stockinette as an accent. You will knit three different colored mountains, using Intarsia as a technique to change colors. The color pattern changes every 6rows.

Since this pattern requires four different colors, it is tricky to maneuver the yarn. However, it will go very smoothly after getting used to the repeated color pattern!

My favorite way to use this shawl is wearing it as a hood. It is super long, so you can cover your head and around your neck. I can go out wearing a hood, and inside I can wear it as a standard shawl. I like this way because my ears are sensitive to cold wind, so that's the best way for me!

Since this is a collab with Madelinetosh, you can purchase a kit to knit this beautiful Mountaineer! To learn more about it, please visit Madelinetosh.com !!
